Many men target their upper body exercise regimen to focus on defining the pectoral muscles. A strong, sculpted chest is something many strive to attain and is often a focal point of a man’s appearance. This is not, however, always easy to achieve. Exercise and weightlifting can help to contour the chest, but may not provide you with the exact definition you desire. If you’re looking to improve the contour of your chest, or you’re looking to enhance the musculature of your pectorals, consider a chest enhancement. Charles Galanis, M.D., can provide you with a strong, masculine chest with pectoral implants.
HOW CAN I BENEFIT?
Most men can benefit from pectoral implants if they desire. Many men wish to increase the size and enhance the shape of their chest after consistent exercise, diet, and targeted weightlifting do little to produce results. Others may wish to emphasize the pectorals as a focal point on their body if their small size is causing self-consciousness and a lack of confidence. Additionally, some men want to restore their chest appearance if they’ve suffered illness or injury that has affected the look of the upper body. Regardless of the reason, men who are in good health and have a realistic expectation of what the procedure can bring are strong candidates. You will have a consultation with Charles Galanis, M.D., in order to better determine the appropriateness of the procedure and the specific size and shape of your desired implants. Prior to your surgery, your implants will be made out of a flexible silicone based on the measurements taken during your consultation appointment.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE PROCEDURE
Chest enhancement procedures are performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Charles Galanis, M.D., will make an incision in your armpit and will stretch approximately 2 inches long. The scarring will not be obvious because it is hidden under the armpit hair.
He will insert an endoscope into the incision and create a space between the muscles of your chest. The silicone implant is inserted through the incision and positioned between the muscles for optimum placement. Once the first implant is placed, Charles Galanis, M.D., will suture the first side and repeat the procedure with the other implant.
This is a surgical procedure, so you will need to take it easy for the first few days. It’s common to experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the incision and implant sites. These are normal symptoms after the procedure and will subside within a few days. Pain and discomfort can be managed with pain medication. Compression garments will be worn to help minimize the swelling and speed up your recovery.
You may be able to resume regular daily activities after the first week. Strenuous activities like exercise should be avoided until Charles Galanis, M.D., clears you for additional activity.
Following all your aftercare instructions is vital to help you recover and also to ensure optimum results.
